Hi,
I'm looking at a setup which only has dial-up access to the internet which I'm wanting to share with laptops (ie/ wireless connection).
Rather than going off and buying a wireless hub, I wonder if I can get a wireless network card for the base computer (which has access to internet) and then share the internet connection over the wireless network card. The base computer would effectively be the network hub other computers connected through its wireless card.
Would this work?
Thanks

You can only connect one pc at a time in ad-hoc wireless mode.
A wired setup doesn't have this limitation.
Connection via a wireless router also does not have this limitation.
Imagine the power of knowing how to internet search

"You can only connect one pc at a time in ad-hoc wireless mode." Not so according to this this article about ICS/Ad-hoc and multiple Guest PC's:

Hi Bakers,
thanks for the posting and the link. This looks like just what I want to do and it is possible.
thanks

I think the issue would be the dial up IP. Consider Analogx's free proxy to allow a similar config to ICS without the IP address issue.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Hi Jefro,
thanks for your posting. I don't really understand what you mean. This would be standard ICS but just over a wireless connection? So the dial-up IP would just be shared over the local network in the usual way?
Maybe I misunderstood?

seems to think this a viable configuration?
Thanks

I'd follow that how to first. I just don't care for ICS.

I agree, it isn't a matter of choice sadly. Broadband isn't available at that particular locations
