Hi,
I have been having several problems for the past few weeks.
First....I reformatted my computer 2x in less than a week, and am still having the same problems with IE and the internet.
I am using cable/Lan line and from my understanding I should be able to have access to the internet all the time. Well....I can access my home page (yahoo) and can sometimes access a site. Most times it says that the page cannont be displayed. At the bottom of the pages is says DNS error. I have repaired my LAN connection and did IPconfig/release and renew. However, If I sign onto AOL the pages will load. There are times that I do not want to sign onto AOL, I want to be able to access the internet without the help of AOL. About a month ago that wasnt a problem. I do not know what has happened. Its driving me crazy. I also tried resetting IE options, but have since reset to the default settings.

Another problem Im having is when I try to sync my time with time.windows.com I get this error message: an error occurred .. the sample time was rejected because: The peer's stratum is less than the host's stratum. I do not have any idea what that means.
I also have error messages in my event viewer pertaining to DCOM.

I d/l Mozilla/firefox and that hasnt helped, I also have MSN and doesnt work on getting pages to load.

The new thing for today is its telling me that the pages cant be read off line. Im on line...lol

Here is a silly question, since I reformatted, do I have to use the floppy that came with my puter and reinstall anything off that disk? I have been reading posts and have checked the ping and all came out ok. Although, there were some things listed in there that were false. The network portion passed.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanking you in advance,
Nanette

Is AOL your internet provider? If so you may have to log into AOL before using another browser.

Hi,
Thank you for your response. Up until about a month ago I didnt have this problem. I was able to sign onto the internet and browse without problems.

Does anyone have any ideas about why I cannot sync my time?

I think there is a problem somewhere with the set up connections area.

I have MSN and when you have the option to select a sign on option it keeps going back to sign on with MSN. I was the other option which is Lan, or other sevice provider. It will not stay locked onto that option.

anyway,
thanx all
nanette
