setting up server at LAN

I am inside a LAN in my school campus. I wish to ser up a server using Linux so that my friend outside campus can go in. Is that possible cause my IP is starts with 10.100.98.68.

There are ways to do what you want to do but it is not advisable. The school may not like rogue servers on it's network especially for outside access. Your current IP address is considered a private address and will not route beyond the school LAN. To use it you would need to use either VPN or some sort terminal server (IE. PC Anywhere). Additionally, you must get beyond the schools firewall and any other security/intrusion detection they are using.

Overall, Not a good idea without permission. Just my .02 worth.
