I 3 computers now. A p4 with Windows XP Pro. And two other computers with 98. How do i make my p4 a proxy server and hide my ip number? I was told it was possible to hide your ip number or make it use a fake number. Is that true?

tools - internet options - connections - lan settings.

input the ip and port of an anonymous server and use it. There are many tools like multiproxy to check them

proxy server will hide and protect your private network(your two 98 pcs), but itself must use valid public visible ip to connect to the internet. any proxy servers have at least two ip, one public one facing the public of course, one provate ip facing your own network. The idea of proxy server is not to use fake ip to hide all your computers, at least your proxy server must use a valid public ip.
