hi,
I'm trying to setup home FTP server but not having any luck. I think my ASP is blucking port 21 and 80 so I'm trying to setup the ftp on a different port. here what I did.
1- I setup dynDNS account ( this works becasue I can connect remotely to my maching)
2- opened port 8022 on my linksys router and pointed it to my local IP address
3- opened the firewall on my xp machine on that port
4- installed an ftp server on my maching the is running to that port
5- instlled client ftp on a different machine where I'm connecting from.

after doing all this I still have no luck connecting.

what am I missing?
thanks

You actually dont need to do any of this. Just have to forward port 20,21 to the machine that hosts the ftp server. For now, lets forget the dyndns part...just use the external IP address to connect to the computer and it should work.
Are you sure that you installed FTP with the default settings from the CD?

What client are you using? Did you try connecting from a command window? This way you can say if it is the client
