Hy,
I'm confused. Since I'm not really into setting up networks, I'll have to now.
This is the szenario (how I think it could be):
I have a Internet connection (DSL), Firewall/Proxy A, webserver, Firewall B, switch and workstations:[Inernet]--[Firewall/Proxy A]--[HUB]--[Webserver]
|
[Firewall B]
|
[Switch w/ workstations]
To the questions:
Do two firewalls make sense? The idea is to protect that webserver a bit, and firewall B should only allow connections from trhe proxy.
What about IP addresses?
Is one official IP adress enough in order to access that webserver (which would have an internal address) via port-forwarding?
Should it be set up completely different (there should be a place for a DNS server as well)Thanks a lot for any suggestion!
Thomas

if you only have one ip address, a really good thing to use is NAT (network address translation). some firewalls can act like routers and perform NAT, maybe you have one of those. if not, win route pro does it really well, and NAT also acts like a natural firewall because you have to open ports manually to let them be accessed from the outside. this would eliminate the need for a second firewall.

I use Winroute Lite and its works great sharing my cable modem with 3 other systems on the LAN. its support online gaming ect and as said above N.A.T is the best way by far to share an internet conection

i have internet connectin through cable. Now i want to set it up through a proxy. I hadconfigure it. But after done this work yahoo's voice chat does not work. And when we open "mail.yahoo.com" internet browser opens any other persons account.
Because i have to set a proxy server in yahoo messenger and in IE browser.
So, please tell me the solution of this problem. How can I set my network so that yahoo messenger and IE Browswer do work without proxies.
Tell me by which software i can do it.
