I am planning to set up a print server/file server/ftp server on my home network. Should I leave XP Pro on the machine or go back to my copy of 2000? Also, what else do I need to consider as far a security? I am using a D-Link router/firewall. Any input at all would be great, thanks!

IIS of windows 2000 is better . but if you want to use XP Pro u have to use third party softwares Like FTP Server by Pablo Software Solutions Version 1.71 .I am using it and it has all the features .
Sorry about firewalls i dont know much about them.

about the firewall, when u set up the ftp server or anything that is going to connect to your machine, makes sure you have the other user in the accept or the allow part of the firewall. If not the firewall will block the port and user will be notices as a hacker according to the firewall. So you might want to consider that. But it is fairly easy to setup the firewall to allow connections to be made. I have not used D-Link but i have used Norton Firewall and that is how it works.
