setting up cisco 2800 series router with cme and voip 7960

Specs: Windows 7 64, I5 Intel/ 6GM
I'm learning about voice and trying to learn things to help me with my CCNA exam. Currently I have a Poe Switch 24 ports, 2800 series router running ios 15 and I have Call manager express. I need some assistance of how I would set this up to make it work for my Cisco VOIP phone 7960 series. I've programmed the basics into the router and switch and seem to be running into a dead end. The phone says configuring IP and getting CME List other than that its not registering even though its pulling an IP.

Ok, how have you setup the router and switch? I'm asking of course about VLAN's. I'm guessing you have at least three:

VLAN 1 = management (default)
VLAN 2 = data

or something like that?

It sounds like you have the basic setup correct but your handset isn't talking to the controller. What VLAN is your controller in and what VLAN is your VoIP handsets in?

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
