setting up a wireless printer network on wind

Specs: windows 7 , 4
my friend has a lap top with windows 7 and an epson 425w wireless printer.
We have done the following.Going into start and typing wireless. Then click on wireless managed networks. Then click on add and a screen comes up to provide an adhock network. We then enter the name of the printer in box 1 ie Tony printer,The next box shoes wpa2 which we have kept the same, and the 3rd box we have put in a password of shunka99.We then go into the printer settings on the printer,ie network settings and find tony printer, then scroll to the wisard set up .It goes into setting up mose but after several minutes it fails. We have done this several times but to no avail. We cannot proceed to click onto the properties of the printer in the lap top ans the first stage cannot be completted on the nework settings on the printer.
My friend is using a wireless connection from one of his shops the he rents. He can get on the internet ok with this, but I was told we had to setup an additional adhock network for the wireless printer in order that he can switch on the wireless connections shown, between bright white which is his friend wireless connection and tony printer when he requires to be able to print.
One can I assume work in this mode, and be able to switch between these 2 wireless connections
