How can i set up a ftp server for the internet while being on a LAN? What i mean is, every ftp server that i try to use gets my local address instead of the internet address.
Issue: If i set it up with the local address [i.e 192.168.0.34] nobody on the nternet will be able to see it. If i set it up with my server's address the login requests will go to the server and not to my computer...
How can i do this?

You need to redirect incoming requests on port 21 of your router/firewall to go to the internal IP of the FTP server.

From outside your network (internet) you will need to direct all FTP requests to the router/firewall. Meaning that devices IP address. The device will then use port forwading to forward the request to the appropriate PC.

In other words, you have to forward your port

I have linksys router.

I will have to login my router page and
go to forward
and put port number and ip number to forward.

that will make the ip alive outside to the world...
