I have a D-Link wireless DPR-1260 Print Server and an HP Deskjet D4160. I also have 3 wireless laptops that I want to connect to this print server.

Does this print server need to be connected to my network in order to work? I am going to need to take this whole setup (d-link, printer, and laptops) to a remote location for an offsite job, where there is no network setup. I need to have all 3 of these laptops connect to this printer server and print off of one printer.

None of the laptops see the print server, but they see 2 other local wireless networks.

On a side note, I got everything to work by connecting the D-Link to my router via ethernet cable. It all worked fine, but once I disconnected the ethernet cable, nothing worked.

Thanks guys

You need something to tie your network together. Add a wireless router and configure a stand alone network without a WAN connection.

Also, I discovered the hard way that some of the wireless print servers do NOT work with all printers...

About 6 months ago I tried to hook up a wireless print server, could not for the life of me make it work...after a LOT of research I found a site that listed the various printers that would and would not work with this particular print server...

Sure enuf, the printers I was working with were on the NOT list...

Unfortunately I did not keep a record of the site, nor the particular print server I used as I decided that I wasn';t going to mess with them any more...

This may not be the case with your particular print server and printer...but it might be...

Good luck...
