Hi guys....well heres what i need help with...setting up a domain...
I have asked before and went away and learned new things...no im back...you c alot of people ask me why i am doing it because i only have a 5 client home network....but i dont want my bro in my files that i want to share with alex and he dosnt want me in his files that he shares with mike and so on...
I found the answer: a domain with permissions...but the problem is i dont know anything about AD nor really think i need it...i want to be able to set up my server with windows nt4.0 server or windows 2003 server and set up file sharing between the 4 clients with permissions and logon hours and stuff...i set up my server o share the connection "internet" and its ip is 192.168.0.1 and dns is 127.0.0.1 and thne i set up the "configure ur server wizrd
It installed dhcp server.domain controller and dns server....
Then i added the computers and users into the place in admin tools and then tried logging on but couldn't
So what do i do and do i need AD or can i just use in nt 4.0?
Thx please dont hesitate to ask any furher questions for more info ill be glad to give it out...thx guys

Thx in advance!!!

The easier way is to set up a shared folder with a password (FAT) or use the security permissions (NTFS). The domain will do nothing to secure the individual computer's shares, if someone can get on the domain.

Take control of the drive. first make sure that you have disable easy share in the folder veiw options. if you do it in the control pannel it will apply to all files and folders. Then go to the folder you want to set permisions on rightclick on the folder or drive go to security tab. click the advance tab next then a new window should pop up. chose the ownership tab. Make yourself the owner. If this dosn't work just repost
