Service Unavailable - DNS failure

When I try to search from the Address bar I get the above message.

I was originally trying to search through Google but am not even able to search on MSN which normally would be the default.

I had posted this under WinXP but realize this is a internet connection problem.

The Internet Options under Tools has the proper "Search from Address bar" option checked.

I just re-installe XP if and haven't been able to search since.

Any ideas?

Unfortunitally, it is.

That got my heart pumping since I think it has something to do with that area.

Anyway, thanks.

Ok.

Are you joined in a domain?
If so lets get out of it for the moment( you might be joined in some online domain aswell)

Right click my computer >properties> Network Identification (tab)> Properties Button
Make sure you are in the Workgroup membership and the workgroup name is Workgroup. Also go to "More", Make sure Change Primary DNS suffix when domain membership changes is Unchecked. Also make sure you dont have a primary dns suffix on the computer.

so its saying the service is unavailable?
lets make sure its running.

My computer> Control Panel> (switch to classic view) Admin tools> services>

Look around in there . Make sure DHCP Client, DNS client, Network Connections, Remote procedure call(rpc) Are all started with automatic, to do this double click the item, click start and make sure start up type is automatic
