Strange problem: I recently purchased a laptop. It connects fine to my home network. I can access files from all the other computers on the network fine. I can copy files from my main computer to my laptop over the network, BUT if I try to save a file from my laptop to the main computer on the network, that computer shuts down automatically and reboots. 100% of the time.
If I move a file from the main computer (that is, to which the router is connected) to my laptop, no problem. If I move a file from my laptop to the main computer, the main computer shuts down and reboots.

Is it only when the laptop, not other pcs, goes to save a file to main does main reboot?
Look at event viewer on the main computer and see if there are any events that relate to the reboot times.
Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

Yes. Thank you for clarifying. I forgot to say that: it is only when my laptop modifies a file on the main computer that it crashes. When my upstairs computer does it, no problem.
Could you tell me more about the event viewer? Where is that? TB
