I've been trying to set up my Realtek 8139 PCI NIC to work with my Linux installation... It works fine with my Win XP, but that too ONLY IF installed in the middle pci slot on the motherboard..if i plug it into ne other slot, it will be recognized and installed fine, but it just wont be able to communicate with the network.... Now, in Red hat 7.2, Kernel 2.4.7-10, its been recognized fine, and rtl8139too is loaded, and ifconfig verifies the setup...but it just cant ping neone or nebody.... I get the destination unreachable error.... my networks working on half duplex, and the nic seems to share an irq with my audio device on the board, AND something listed as SMBUS...could neone help me out here???
