Hi !

I need to do a Router-to-Router VPN connection between two branch offices using Windows 2000 Server.

I made an installation lab. I followed all the steps for the configuration indicated in The Cable Guy of October 2001 called "Demand-Dial Routing and Router-to-Router VPN in Windows 2000". See http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/columns/cableguy/cg1001.asp

In this configuration we have the office1 with a network address of 172.16.1.0 and subnetmask 255.255.255.0. The office2 with a network address of 172.16.2.0 and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.

At this point the installation lab works fine. I have connection between any computer in office1 with any computer in office2. GREAT !!!

But when I change the network address in office2 to my real address of 170.121.0.0 with subnet mask of 255.255.0.0, I just have connection between the router in office1 with any computer in office2 and between any computer in office1 with the router in office2. I can't have connection between any computer in office1 with any computer in office2.

I don't know why does this happen. Any help will be appreciated.

I believe you have to have the same subnet on both networks for the computers to communicate.
