hi
rite, can you connect a router, to a hub, so that say 1 user can connect to the net, with all the other computers off? and when they are all on, send files to each other, and go on the net?
thanks!

Most SOHO routers come with an internal 4-port switch so you can connect up to 4 clients to the router at the same time. If you have a 1-port router you need to pick up an external network hub or switch to create your LAN, yes.

Switches are usually faster than hubs but cost a bit more. However many clients you have now, plan on adding 3-4 more to your network over the next couple of years so if you can afford it get an 8-port instead of a 4-port (or a 12 port instead of an 8-port); with the extra capacity you won't have to site another hub on your desk and find a place to plug it in if you plan ahead.

yes they will, but a switch does it more efficiently and a bit faster. Go with a switch because the price of a switch isnt that much is you order it off of newegg.com or tiderdirect.com. Plus Hubs most likely will be phased out in the next few years, due to the fact that switches are more efficient.
