Ok... this may or may not be a simple problem, but since I'm new to networking I'm seeking aid. I have a Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO router, and it broadcasts its signal fine to my computer (a 54 Mbps signal) upstairs, but when I try to surf the Internet (which is DSL), I get an error page that says the "server is not found." The only exception to this is when I first connect to the router, it seems fine for a few minutes, then the server is not found again. But this is all that's wrong, I can play games over the Internet fine and download files at no loss of speed. I think it's the router because the computer where the router is plugged into is also having the same problems. The router is only a month old, and it just started doing this suddenly. I've tried resetting it a few times to no avail.
google.com read about 'smurf attacks' that rogue software can get into a router and ruin it. i've been hit with this crap twice now. new router each time
Issue nslookup in command prompt (cmd.exe) to test whether your DNS servers can resolve the IP correctly. If not, you can use the following free DNS servers from opendns:
208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220
Aslo you can ping continuously to particular website (such as google.com) and see how's the performance and make sure it's not ISP problem.
