router problems, please help

I'm using Prolink WGR1004 Wire Broadband Router.the problem is that i can access to the router thr 192.168.1.254 but can not get to internet.i had ping all the ip address and default gateway by Command Prompt, it works fine,i can access to internet by using modem,but not the router, do we need to config anything before using router? and also how we check whether the router is spoil? can anyone please help me,thanks!

Of course you need to configure the router, if not it won't work well. You need to at least configure the Internet and LAN settings on the router, here is how I configured Dlink network router, take a look to help you.
