Hi,

has anyone run into following problem:

I've got a Linksys router attached to ISP connection
When I attach a PC to it (Mac, Windows, whatever) I can ping and traceroute, DNS also works, but no telnet/ftp/http.

Ping/traceroute are UDP not TCP but I'm not able go much further than that.

If I attach any of my PCs directly, everything works just fine.

Any ideas??? Evil ISP problem?
Thanks!
Tytus

Router firewall maybe blocking outgoing requests.

Are you requesting external web pages and so on or ones hosted on your LAN?

It's nothing to do with your ISP if you can connect directly with a 'normal' direct PC connection to the internet. It's a local configuration problem!

Internal connections are working just fine. No problem transferring files, web browsing between my own computers. Problems start when I try to go out to access external servers

I would say that its a router configuration then. Check the outbound permissions for the router.

If it is the router config I got a way you can test it.

Go into the linksys router menu (http://192.168.1.1 in most cases) and go to the DMZ tab , Might be under advance

Then put in one of the computer internal ips. Then try your FTP sites and stuff.
That should work because if you put in that computer local ip in the DMZ section it forwards all port to that computer so its almost like the router isn't even connected.
