Router link light blinks constantly

Here's kind of an odd problem: I recently installed a DI-604 router, and have three PCs connected through it. The router link light showing the connection to one of the PCs (running Win 2000 Pro) flickers constantly. I have tried different CAT5 cables, switching the network cable to a different port on the DI-604, and have tried two different NICs in different PCI slots in the PC. The flickering continues regardless of the combination. I'm not sure if the problem is with the motherboard (a Gigabyte GA-8IE, Intel 845E chipset); I don't think the light should be flickering like it is. We are able to get the PC onto the Internet, but I have noticed that eventually our speed decreases. Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated.

Its constantly sending data. Either you have spyware accessing the net or you maybe you use it as a file server.

Thanks for your response, Jordan. In this case I don't think it's a spyware problem - we run the standard anti-spyware apps regularly. Apparently the PSU was dying, and now looks like it finally bit the dust. I was experiencing random reboots last night, and my wife told me that she couldn't boot the PC at all today. Is it possible that the constant flickering of that one corresponding router light was because the network port was not getting steady power?

Run a sniffer and stop guessing, there are free ones out there. It will tell you what is wrong on the wire, just make sure the sniffer is on the span port of your switch.
Here is a free one:
www.ethereal.com there is a windows vserion on this sniffer.

Thanks, Brian ... I'll check out these free apps. Still going to have to replace that PSU in my wife's PC, but maybe that doesn't have anything to do with the link light flicker.

Doubt a psu would cause that problem. Something is generating traffic.
