If the modem is the limiting factor then it makes no difference what your router is capable of. Your network can only perform as fast as the slowest link.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.

devils6889, the guy at your ISP is full of crap. They gave you an old modem that is maxed out at 10 MBs per second. Either have them give you a new modem or go buy your own. You router can easily handle up to 100 MBs over wired ethernet and up to 125 MBs over it's wireless connection.

15mbps or 1.5mbps? 15mbps seems pretty high...
Give a person a fish, they eat for a day. Suggest they internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

15mbps. i got this modem for free when i signed up like 5 yrs ago and they said they would replace my modem for free.

Wanderer, there are some really fast internet options available now. verizon has a fiber optic service for home users that is 30 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload. granted it's $175 per month, but you can get it.
