I just added a router (Linksys NR041) to my home broadband connection. I have 2 computers hooked up...a desktop (computer # 1) and a laptop (computer # 2..both systems are wired to the router and are accessing the internet just fine. But for some reason the LED light that indicates connectivity for the desktop won't turn off..it just stays on even when I shut the desktop off. Out of curiosity..I tried swapping the network cables connected to the router ports (laptop as computer # 1) and (desktop as computer # 2) but the LED light that stays on corresponds to whatever port the desktop is connected to on the router. I'm confused...It sounds like something up with the desktop. Need some suggestions...thanks in advance!

Some NIC's support WOL (Wake On LAN). I'm betting your desktop's NIC does. See if there's a connection indicator light on your desktop's NIC as well when it's turned off.
