Nope, it's always better to use the router, which usually has a build in firewall.

It's much better and safer, to figure out your problem.

What happend just before the problem occurs?
Are you connected to the router wired or wirelessly?

If connected wirelessly, connect your computer by lan cable, open your browser, type in the routers ip address and reconfigure the routers wireless part.

You don't install routers or broadband modems in any version of windows so your post isn't making a lot of sense. These devices are beyond your pc/laptop and there are no drivers to install for them.

So what exactly is wanting to be uninstalled automatically?

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

Thank you. This got me to where I was informed that there was a problem I could not fix myself. I called the local Comcast store and after getting lots of stupid answers tech saying that the connect icon buisy all the time was normal, that I did not need to install the router etc. He finally did get a disconnect and the router re-installed. Problem fixed. Don't know what he did and don't understand why no one else seems to have that problem. Has to be programming. Program got into a loop with no escape door.

Thank you for your input.
