BAH! ive had lots of problems with router fowarding also. such as my ftp server. and obviously, my web server wont work either. i've tried DMZ and all that, but still nothing. im assuming apache should be listening on the ip address of this machine, not the ip from the cable company. ive also switched the port to 8080. nothing. ive got DHCP on, and i dont know about all that other stuff in the toher posts with the linksys router. if anyone could help me out thatd be great.

Things that concern me about your post is that you say your using DHCP and web and ftp servers at the same time. Bad Call! Servers for the web should be static. People can not access your servers if you keep changing your IP address (as DHCP does). It's like changing home address every time someone tries to mail you a check. You'll ain't gettin the check. Use a static IP address on your servers.
The next issue of concern is your DMZ. That means your using a firewall. If your using a firewall, they do not like letting people into the DMZ your internal network without some specific instructions from you to do so. If they did then firewalls would be useless. Did you configure your firewall to allow the outside internet access to your inside web and ftp server?
The last thing is you said a linksys D-Link router. That's pretty much a home version router which uses NAT and or PAT (I'm too lazy to go to Linksys website to find out which) but it doesnt matter. Either way they change substitue internal IP addresses for external IP addresses. You can change your ports till the "cows come home" and it will still not let you present your web and ftp server to the internet. Are you doing this from home, if so, and you are using an ISP, you only get one ISP internet address. What you need is additional ISP internet addresses, one for each server so people on the internet can see your server and access your server. If your gonna do that, get a real firewall, and not just NAT or PAT on your D-Link, it aint designed for all that.
D

I've had a similar situation. Please try having someone ELSE access your servers.
Also, my servers run on ports 80 and 21 (the services I'm talking about should be obvious). They would not work properly on any other ports. Try making sure that they're on these ports as well.
In my situation, everyone else can access my servers, but I cannot unless I use my private LAN IP address. This is somewhat problematic. Not so in the realm of FTP or mail servers, but for some reason I am TOTALLY unable to connect to my own machine using my domain name. No matter what I do, I most definitely cannot connect via my domain name :(

wow. hmm.. so your basically saying that i wont be able to do anything about my web servers until i get a new router or something? is it possible to change the firewall on the router or anything? thanks, tho, big help.

btw. to answer your questions. My ip address stays the same, i know i should get a static from my ISP, but i need to get around to that. But on my network, i always get 192.168.0.102 no matter what. i remember setting something but i cant remember exactly. yes, theres a thing in d-link called Virtual servers. You set it up, and basically it just forwards the ports for you. It WAS working with my router (ftp server i mean) a while ago, but now it doesnt anymore. If i DMZ'ed myself, then that could cuase the server to stop working right? tahanks
