I have a DLink Cable/Router with built in firewall.
Can somebody tell me how secure or unsecure these hardware FireWalls are.
Second, Do I need software firewall like norton to make big difference.
I assume there is nothing absolute secure when you are connected to the internet. But would a sofware firewall add a worth while security to the built-in firewall or not.

your Hardware firewall is enough secure... Software firewall are normally not secure as hardware appliance anyway.
Secondo, firewall will be as secure as your ability/knowledge to configure it correctly (95% of people doesnt!!)
If you are not tcp/ip expert and wan security manager, ask your isp to do it for you. It will be the best investment of your life.

Thanks danny for the info. My ISP does not support such service and I have to configure it myself. I do not have the experience you mentioned. However, I would appreciate few steps and tips or a website on how to configure the Firewall in a router.
Thanks

I agree with the above post. Hardware firewall is far better and more secure than software firewall.
