Hello, I own a Linksys wrt54gc router and I've been using it for a year now. My internet connection is 5Mbps download and 512kbps upload. Once in every few days my speed can't be more tha 0.8 Mbps and when I restart the router I get 5 Mbps. I tried to upgrade the firmware but this doesen't solve the problem. Can someone please assist me. Thank you

Log on to the router and see if there are any logs.
Sometimes they go bad or bad from factory.
"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
