I just recently bought this router to replace my broken Linksys BEFSR41 and to upgrade to a wireless network for my laptops.
My problem is that when I am running a p2p program, such as BitComet or eMule, my router drops internet. This occurs about two minuets to about 5 minuets of launching the program or resarting the router.
The router settings are:
-Dynamic connection (AT&T Yahoo! DSL)
-No virtual servers (I have tried it with the virtual servers set as they should for eMule, but the same thing happens)
-No encryption on the Wireless (the same thing also happens if it were to have 128-bit WEP)
-UPnP turned off (the same thing happens when it is on)
-DHCP is runningThe computers that are connected to it are all using the wired ports, there are no computers connected wirelessly (that is only for my laptops).
All computers that are connected to it have static IP addresses. (the DHCP is for "guest" computers, and ones using the wireless)
TIA

Some router firewalls might do this if it reads too many malformed packets or other reasons that tell the router to protect your system.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you goober.

There is always the possibilty your ISP is disconnecting you to preserve its bandwidth for other users. P2P applications can use a lot of bandwidth. I would check with them first.

StuartS - I thought this for a sec, but it didn't happen with the Linksys router, or when we used Win ME's ICS. Also, only the router needs resent, not the modem.
jefro - this seems a much more likely situation. I guess I will look for another router to see if that solves the problem.
