is it possible to use a wireless router (specifically linksys WRT54G) as a wireless modem?
i have an in house wireless network, but I dont want to run cable to connect a new router and give a wireless-less box access to the net.
basically, because im sure that was confusing as anything - can i use a wireless router as a wireless modem and access point?

First read the following article to familiarize yourself with the difference between router and modem then rephrase your question.

A router and a modem are two completely different pieces of equipment doing completely different jobs. The WRT54G is a wireless router with built in switch.
You can use it to extend an existing network using the built in switch and wireless access point but you cant use it as a modem because it isn't one.

get a wireless router with built in adsl modem or cable modem. my recomendataion is the netgear DG834. not flash but like my ex its cheap and easy.
all text needs typos. There there for the reader to find,to distract them from the total lack of content.
google it! wasnt the answer to the question i asked so dont be dense and give me that repl

You have an in-house wireless network already. You shouldn't need anything else to allow another "box" to connect wirelessly to the existing home network. There is something that you're not telling us. Give us a run down on the networking equipment you have connected.
