Route added, but can't ping that ip

I want to go to a ftp server 138.2.2.xx so I route add the subnet I input the following comand route add 138.2.2.0 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.2 -p then I route print the route table it display the 138.2.2.0 in the routing table however I am not able to ping 138.2.2.xx other computer in the same network doesn't have this problem. is there anything wrong with this PC? thanks

Compare the output of route print on both PC's (ie: the one that does work, and the one that doesn't). Are there any differences? If so, that's likely to be the problem.

do a tracert and see where it fails make sure the local firewall is disable for testing.
