I have a computer connected to the internet through a hub with IP address 24.86.67.x and gateway 24.86.62.1 and I have another computer connected to the hub running Win2000 Server with IP address 192.168.0.1 and I want to use that computer for internal web development testing only. How would I use route add on the computer connected to the internet so that when I type in the IP address of the server it will load up. IIS is setup and working fine locally on the server but I'm not sure how to set it up so I can access it from other computers across the LAN.
Thanks

Hi,
Just to get it correctly:- You have a computer connected to the internet and also to the hub
- The Win2000 Server is also connected to the hub
- You want the IIS on the Win2000 Server reacheble by the internetIf that's what you have & what you want, you need software that can map ports. IIS is (like all standard webserver) depending on TCPIP port 80. So the computer connected to the internet must know that if someone is requesting 80, the request must be passed on (mapped) to the Windows 2000 Server. I use Winroute Pro for this. (www.winroute.com)

Rob.

Nope, I only want IIS reachable internally on my LAN, I do not want it to be exposed to the internet. That is why the server has IP address 192.169.0.1

You cant connect PC's in different subnets using a hub, that what a routers for. If youve got W2K server or some form of RRAS equivalent you need two NIC's in your internet connected computer, one with IP 24.87.67.x and the other 192.168.0.2 connected either directly via crossover or via a hub to your 192.168.1.0 machine. Or buy a router.
