Root drive file share from Vista to XP

September 19, 2009 at 01:30:34
Specs: Vista & XP
I have a laptop running Vista Home Premium and a desktop PC with XP Home SP3. I have an external hard drive connected to the laptop and would like to share that entire drive so that I can access it's contents on the desktop PC.

The desktop PC is connected directly to a router and the laptop connects to the network wirelessly.

Can anyone please help me out?

(File sharing is turned on, password sharing is off etc. on the Vista machine).

Share the drive as the admin user most likely.

I like to map the drive, on that screen look at bottom and it gives you the choice of map as user. Map as the admin user on the other machine and password.

Should now be a drive letter such as Z: on the local machine.

LiquidTek what specifically are you asking?

How to network? How to share? How to access that share?

Right click the Drive -> Click Properties and Select the Share Tab.

Can you be more specific with your question?
