OS: Windows 95 C
CPU/Ram: Pentium
Comment:

I have installed Compex RL2000 PCI Ethernet Adapter in one of my Pentium 1 systems installed with Windows 95C (OSR 2.5).

The RL2000.INF file in the root folder of the driver floppy shows the below header:

;
; Filename : RL2000.INF v1.20
; Operating Systems : Windows 95, 98
; Hardware Supported : Compex RL2000 PCI Ethernet Adapter
;

and the RL2000.INF file in the Win95 folder in the driver floppy shows the below header:

;
; Filename : RL2000.INF v1.00
; Operating Systems : Windows 95
; Hardware Supported : Compex RL2000 PCI Ethernet Adapter
;

But the Windows 95 machine is not recognizing this driver as the proper one. It doesnt recognize the adapter by itself. I added the adapter through Add hardware, but the Systems Properties shows the adapter with an exclamation mark (!) mentioning the driver is not proper.

The adapter version is RL2000 REV A1 using the chipset RL2000-9881. EASYSET.exe shows the IRQ as 11 and I/OBase address as 6100H. The card is tested in a Windows 98 machine, and found working fine.

Would anyone please help me with providing the right driver for this version of the Windows 95 C (OSR 2.5)

Have you already tried to change the driver manually?
Go to the properties page of the already found network adapter in the device manager and install another driver.
Don't let Windows search automatically for a driver. Instead choose the driver manually and browse for your driver at the floppy disk.

I guess, the driver you tried to install is for the os win98 and above.
You can check this, by viewing the RL2000.INF file.
If you will find the following entry with "signature="$chicago$"", the driver is definately for win98 and not for win95.
---
[version]
signature="$chicago$"
Class=Net
---

I got a driver for Win95 that may work for you.
If you'd like to get it, send me an E-Mail and I'll send it to you by mail.

Paul
