Hi all

Just have a very basic query im hoping to have answered...

when im creating a patch network cable(straigh thru, not Xover) does it matter what order the wries are in?

basically so long as there the same combination(white, white orange etc..) on both ends will it be fine?

and can i use different combinations on the same network(same on both ends on an individual cable of course)?

It depends, if you are just wiring a network in your home and only you will see it, it makes little difference as long as you can remember what you did.

However, if you are wiring a netwrok in a commercial environment it makes a lot of difference. There is a standard colour scheme so that when somebody else comes along in the future thaey can tell which wire does what and not have to guess.
