I want to make a network cable. I think what I need to do is to put RJ45 connectors onto each end of a CAT 5E cable. Is this right? Will it work?
Is there anything else I need to worry about?

Thanks, I think I have it almost worked it out now. Just a few more questions:
Do I need to buy a crimper? (Is there any other way of crimping?)
Are there any compatibility problems with RJ45 jacks and CAT cables?
What will be the effect of running the cable alongside a power cable (mains - 240V) for about 1 metre?
