Hi, i'm gonna be buying a wired router and i heard that the RJ-45 cable if used for more than 25' then the signal speed goes down, thus slowing down the connection... is that really true.. and is there any thing that will boost the signal half way?

damn, those things can go for a good 300ft (or was it 100? i get confused on feet and meters) anyway, 25 feet will easily work. if you need to go past that, you can buy a repeater, but even 100feet is pretty long.
also, a piece of information, when the cable length does exceed the standard, it doesnt slow does, it degrades causing packet lose and other really bad things.

It also depends on what you are running on the Cat5 cable. I have a T1 line, from the d-mark to the T1 router is almost 600 feet. I am not sure, but I think you can go almost 1600ft with T1 over cat5. Just in case you wanted to know.

Just a note on the previous T-1 is 1.54 Mbs, not 10 Mbs.
