You can use the nslookup command.

C:\test>nslookup www.google.co.in

*** Default servers are not available
Server: UnKnown
Address: 192.168.0.1

Your environmental variables have been altered. In other words your path statement doesn't include the folder(s) where the commands exist. No path = can't find command

For example go to \windows\system32 and run the command nslookup. Bet it works just fine. But it doesn't when at c:\test

Solution is to correct your environmental variables.

ping www.google.com returns an ip based on dns or host file or proxy.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
