restricted folder access denied

OS: windows 2000
CPU/Ram: p4 and 256

In a network there are many users they used to login via
RUN-> NET USER NAME
then a window will appear, there they will enter their name and password
and then they could access their folder if else they couldnt
if i try to open the folder it says access denied.
is there is any way to recover that user password or is there is any way to access that folder
