I was tryng to put new network cards in a Win2000Pro machine, and WinXp machine.

How come when I uninstall the card that is in one of them, and put the brand new card in, it does not work? Any suggestions?

are you uninstalling the drivers for the failed cards and rebooting before you try installing the new cards? these o/s's should plug and play or at least pick up new hardware on the reboot - make sure you have the latest drivers for your o/s's - go to the card manufacturers website and download them - don't assume the ones in the box are the most recent. You may need to perform an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew after the new cards are installed too.

Good luck with it

Providing the network cards are PCI cards you dont need to uninstall anything. The OS will know the old cards are not installed anymore (due to Plug and Play) when it boots up and thus will not try to start the old network card drivers. Remember you will need to configure the new cards due to in windows eyes they are different devices.
