Renewing IP address problem...

I'm runnin XP pro and tried to test a Direct Cable Connection. (A 2 computer network with a 2 end LPT cable) To do this i enabled ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on the LAN card. From then on the Comp wouldnt recognize an IP address, I went through command Prompt and tried to renew the IP, but it says that access is denied... I disabled ICS and it continued to say the same thing.

(I've done all the basics ... rebooted, tested Cable connection on other comp, I have administrator priviliges, etc...)
PLEASE HELP !!! Ive been away from my Online Games long enough!!! :D

Im having the exact same problems was trying to netowrk 3 computers together, tried for hours to fix it myself then called my cable company and they couldnt help either, if you could plz email me what finally fixed it for you
