I have sco 5.0.5, have done all the remote printing setups, but was wondering where i mention the printer server as it is connected to the remote network. I have added the router ip address to my /etc/hosts

You don't add gateway ips to the hosts file. Gateways need no name resolution which is what the hosts file is all about.
You should list the print server name and its ip in the hosts file.
You also need to define what you mean by remote. Across the lan or wan?

It is across wan. I have set it up like this in the /etc/hosts file 62.8.66.158 mombasa port1 so that in the /etc/printcap the printer name is "port1" attached to a remote device "mombasa". When i ping "mombasa" i get replies but it is a reply from the router not the print server which is in a remote LAN with address 192.168.0.10. I have changed the print server name to "mombasa", changed its port name to "port1" but when i send print jobs they are still not printed but are queued. lpstat port1 gives me the message "concord:waiting for mombasa to come up". I am thinking the problem might be in port forwarding on the router, am i right?
