I am accessingg my works network from home using the remote connection feature that comes with windows XP. I want to copy some files from the works network to the local hard disk of my home computer. When i am logged on in this manner, however i cant access my local hard disk. It is not displayed anywhere in My Computer etc. There is a drive with the same letter (c:) but it is not my local hard disk. How can i log in from home to the works PC and copy a file from one of their network drives to my local hard disk (using the internet)

Well, first things first, you'ld need to have a share on the remote PC to connect to.

Yes, i have already connected to the remote PC thats not the problem. I already have full access to the work network and can log on to it no problem. Its when i am logged on, that i cant access the local hard disk on my home PC so that i can copy from the works network to my own hard disk (the home PC being the actual PC i am using)

You'll have to be on your home computer and share your "c" drive. (Not a good idea, btw) then you'll be able to send files there.
A better option would be to build a folder with the proper permissions and share that folder with limited password access.
This will help protedct you PC some from outsiders and still give you access to any files you wish to place in that folder.

Open up windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) and highlight your "c" drive.
Go to the word "File" at the top and from the drop down list, select New, then Folder.
Name your folder something like File Transfers or Work Files.
Then set up Sharing and permissions a needed and you should be OK.
