I have a network through ICS.

I have checked "Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection" to let the other computers in the networks to disconnent the internet by clicking on the gateway and disconnecting,
and then the internet connection is connected again if there is a request for internet.

I was looking for a way to do this disconnecting through a batch file,

meaning on the client, I will have a batch file which will disconnet the internet in the remote computer (server) through which it is gatwayed to internet through ICS.

I have been working on Ipconfig , netsh , route ,.. commands, but with non of them I could disconnect the internet in the remote computer, (as it is possible through GUI)
the maximum I get is to remove the gateway from the client computer which doesn't touch the server.

Any network users here knows how to do this?

A service can be controlled. Not sure you can just disable ics. Since it has limited uses there is little advanced tech tips around.

nope, it is not like disabling ICS, is disconnecting an internet connection (dialup, pppoe)in the server from a client computer which recieves it's internet through being gatewayed by the server computer with ICS.

this is usually possible by right clicking in the gatway in the client and choosing disconnect, if the permission I mentioned above is granted.

there must be command line switch to this aswell, but I can't seem to find it.

You might be able to adapt ToggleLanConnection.vbs

On XP you'd need to rename "Network and Dial-up Connections" to "Network Connections"
and rename "Local Area Connection" to whatever

hmm...
That is supposed to "toggle the LAN connection back and forth between enabled and disable",
that wouldn't touch the server either, only the LAN on the client side.

Isn't there any icon in the "Network Connections" folder for the ICS Gateway?

Okay, my laptop has wireless and ethernet so I ran the network wizard and set up ICS with my old wired desktop computer.

My desktop's "Network Connections" folder contained an icon for "Wireless Network Connection on GATEWAYM320S"

I just tested the above script after making the name change(s) above, and I'm able to disable my laptop's wireless card by running that script on the desktop.

hmmm...

Disabling the LAN card instead of disconnecting!, The connection is an ADSL connection, so it is somehow going around it,

Thanks I will try to use the disable function,

If you find anyways that will disconnect the eg, ADSL connection on the remote side, that would be straight forward and great.
