Hey everyone. Got a problem with Remote Desktop connections. Looks like several people do. Here is my particular scenario.

Servers: 1 Windows 2000 Server, 1 Windows 2003 Server
PCs: 2 with Vista Home Premium, 2 with XP Pro

We are having a problem with our XP PCs not being able to remote desktop in to the Windows 2000 Server. The Vista PCs are working just fine (surprising isn't it?).

When trying to connect with the XP PCs, we get kicked out before even reaching the login screen. After clicking on "connect", it just sits there for about 30 seconds and then errors. Like I said though, the Vista boxes are working just fine.

Now, I originally thought there was a problem with our XP installs but I quickly changed that thought when I was able to use all four PCs to remote in to our 2003 Server.

Any ideas why only our XP boxes are not able to Remote Desktop to our 2000 Server?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Zach

Not surprising. Windows 2000 doesn't have the Capability to be accessed via Remote Desktop.

But Windows 2000 Server do have Remote Desktop. There are 2 connetion licenses included for administration.
Additional Licenses must be bought.
Check, whether your windows 2000 server is listening on port 3389.

paulsep you are confusing terminal services with RDP. Both Jennifer and Jefro are correct.

I'm confused then, so if the problem was with Win 2000 server not being capable, how come it worked fine with the vista machines?

Is there any firewall running at the XP machines?
Maybe the windows firewall blocks something.
