Hello!

I am trying to access my home computer from work and the company network is behind a firewall which blocks external ports.
PING is not even working.
I thought of doing it through the web which is not blocked but I don't know what to do and what program to use and ...
Any assistance is appriciated.

VNC (there are many flavours, Tight VNC is the one I use) has a web interface.

Hi!
Thanks for the reply! Actually I was using RealVNC myself but as far as I know, it does not support connections through proxies. My work computers are behind a firewall and are connect to internet through a proxy.
Also, TightVNC's documention says that it can not connect to the remote computer through proxy. Is there anything else I can try probabaly?

Thanx

Hi,

You did not mention a proxy server in your first post. Sorry, I don't know of any way to do that.

I would be careful I'm sure there are company policies against doing stuff like that hence why they have firewalls and proxies setup . If there is stuff on your home computer that you must have then i would just transfer the files . I know at our company something like this would get a severe reprimand and or dismissal.

Hi,

Even though you have a web interface on you remote software, it is unlikely that it will use a HTTP port i.e. 80. XP pro has a built in remote desktop feature, which also has a web interface, known as TSWEB. This runs on port 3389, but can be configged to work on a different port by changing a reg entry on the server end of the connection.

Hi,
thanks for your replies. Well, I am not sure
what to do. All the programs that are able
to pass through SOCKS are not free. I tried
to use TSWEB before but it sucks dude! It
doesn't work on SOCKS either, i mean at
least I could not get it work with SOCKS.
Can anybody help me out?

Thanks alot,

Alireza
