Hi all,

Once upon a time, all was well and i could connect to my main Vista machine with "Remote Desktop Connection" without any problems from any pc...

But today, i went on my XP system, started up "Remote Desktop Connection" and connected to my main Vista machine..
When connected, i started up 3DsMax 9.0 on the host(the main Vista machine) and showed off some models in it..
Eventually the host pc crashed and rebooted...

After the host restarted, Remote Desktop could not connect to it anymore.. not from the XP machine or from other Vista machines.. (all are in the same LAN)
The host can still connect to all PCs fine though..

I really can't figure it out.. all the settings on the host seem to be correct:

* I enabled remote connections
* I disabled Windows FireWall.
* Ports on the router are correctly forwarded. (even though it also worked without forwarding them)
* Terminal Services are running
* All PCs have static IP's and are addressed in the right way.

..So does anyone have any idea what more i can do? I really need to be able to connect to this pc so any help would be grealty appreciated..

Thanks in advance.

Look at the event viewer of the XP machine.

start, run, eventvwr.msc

Have you rebooted the Vista machine since the crash?

Try other types of connection. mmc, ping, ftp, telnet and such. I never tried it but you might be able to telnet on the RDP ports.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

Thanks for your replies...

Yes, i've rebooted it many times, i also reinstalled the ethernet driver without any luck...
Anyway, i've started the event viewer but what should i look for? i know the crash was caused by the VGA driver but that's a different problem i already fixed...

btw, this is the error message i get every time i try to connect in remote desktop:

"The client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new connections. It is also possible that network problems are preventing your connection. Please try your connection again later. If the problem continues to occur, contact your administrator."

Can all the machines still connect to the net? If they don't, run ipconfig /all on them.

The event viewer has 3 logs. Look for errors in all 3.
