I am having DSL setup in my organization. Different sections have got DSL Modem for our local Intranet. Within sections this modem is fed into LAN switch and people are using intranet through LAN. I want to use Remote desktop feature. Within my own section, it is no problem as they are on same LAN switch, i can access anybody by mnetioning its IP Address. But i want to use the feature of remote desktop on the computer who is from other section and connected on other LAN switch. Is it possible. tell me the way of doing so.

How large of an environment are we talking about here? If under 200 client PC's you could have all of them on the same subnet and then just connect the switches. You would still have to use RDC to connect, but this way it would all be within the LAN itself.
If that's just not possible, then you would require some port forwarding at the other end.
Lets call the segment of the LAN you're on Section A and the one you wish to connect to, Section B for sake of example.
Both Section A and B are setup as follows:
ADSL Modem >> SOHO router >> Switch >> ClientsIf you don't have router's in the mix, you're going to need them so go buy some. You'll need one for each segment with it's own DSL connection. Make sure the ones you buy are capable of port forwarding.
In order to connect to a PC on Section B from Section A you would first have to have a port forward setup to forward port 3389 (RDC) to the IP address of a computer in that segment that's also setup to allow RDC connections.
Then you simply run RDC from your PC in Section A and connect to the external IP address of the router in Section B. The port forward you setup sees that it's a 3389 connection and automatically forwards it to the IP of the PC designated in the forward.
If you've set everything up correctly, you'll be connected to that PC. Now, if you need to connect to more than one PC in Section B, you'll have to do it through the one PC you've got the forward setup for. Once you've connected to it remotely, simply fire up RDC on that PC and use it to connect to other PC's in that section.
I would like to reiterate that if this is a LAN contained within one building, you should have all switches interconnected and communicating with each other.

Our sections are at distant places and they are not under one building. They are scattered. Thats why we cannot keep this on one LAN switch every section is having 10 to 20 PCs who r using Intranet through LAN switch which is connected with DSL Modem.
Is there any possibility that i can use remote desktop feature without placing this router. Is there any software solution. My setup is same as u mentioned but without Router. My setup is
ADSL Modem -->LAN Switch--> Computers

Ok, my first question is:
With your present setup, how do you keep intruders out?
A SOHO router would provide a firewall, which keeps people from outside of your LAN from getting in.
If you're using the builtin windows firewall on each client, this is bulky and means having to maintain it on every client PC in each location. Not to mention it leaves other resources open to being attacked.
What I'm getting at is, if you put a SOHO router between your DSL and your switch then ALL clients, printers, etc, will be protected. For around $40.00 per unit this is a good idea.
Is there any possibility that i can use remote desktop feature without placing this router.
Sure, you could do it without but this is the easy and safe and smart thing to do.
What you're asking is more complicated and harder to do at the outset and harder to maintain over time.
If you can give me one good reason to do it the hard way, I'll explain, in detail, how to do it without using a SOHO router.

I want to do without Router as my Boss is not ready to spend money on this Remote Desktop feature. Its only my personel interest for which i want to use this feature with my frd who is working in same organization. If u help me i will be highly grateful to u. Thanks
