I have two Dell computers, one laptop and one desktop, both running Windows XP Pro behind a Linksys BEFSX41 Firewall Router. I would like to remote desktop into both of these pc's from the wan. I have port 3389 forwarded and it allows me to remote into the pc specified so I know my remote is working.... how do I setup to remote desktop if I want to access the other pc?
I've tried to just go into the router and open another port... such as 3390 but no luck. I know both the laptop or desktop are setup properly for 3389 automatically because I can just open that port and select the ip address respectively and it remote desktops. So only thing I can think of is that I need to open up something in XP... am I thinking right?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Randy

Unless there is a way to change the port that Remote Desktop is running on, I think you are out of luck. You can only forward the ports from the WAN to (1) LAN PC.
If you are able to change the port, you could simply change the service to run on port 3390 for the second machine, then forward 3390 to the LAN IP of that machine and all would work well.

first off you can't remote desktop with windows xp home.
i have my home computers setup so that i type in http://myhostname.homeip.net:4000/tsweb
http://myhousename.homeip.net:3001/tswebInternal IP address 192.168.2.100 is accessed by port 4000 and 192.168.2.150 is by 3001.
You need to install on the host pc, remote desktop web connection if you want to do it like i do, it also lets you change the port of each pc. lookup on google remote desktop web connection, or see microsoft.com they have tons to read on this subject.
typing :port # is how you get it to go to a certain port, which you should have mapped to your internal ip address your trying to get.

Where does XP Home come in?
Basically all your linksys router is going to allow you to do is port forward to ONE ip behind your router (whichever you configure) at a time. You can't have port 3389 forwarded to two different NAT IP's...
Use hero's link to change your port on the second machine to w/e 3390 for example...then go into your router, configure another port fowarding on 3390 to the NAT ip of your second machine
Now you should be able to go to a machine, open up RDC plug in your global IP with :3390
(ie. 10.10.10.10:3390)
and in theroy it should work, post backyup!
