Hi!!

I hope you're all doing well,

I'm ok, except for this one little thing :P

I'm currently enrolled in my 1st semester of the CISCO networking Acadamy and have been taking notes like a madman...hopefully learning hehe..anyhow, my issue is that I'd like to access my Lan at home from my computer at school, I have tons of notes and references at home that I'd like access to while at school,
My free hand note taking skills are horrid!! and I'm much better and faster at typing..
I suppose in theory i could copy all my notes and modify them at school and then recopy them to my machine at home ..ack!!
I guess I'm wondering where I'd need to get started in order to do this

I have DSL internet so i'm connected all the time (provided my pc's are turned on)

Pleas let me know wht i can do

Thanks in advance and much respect

Thomas

Hi Thomas

You can access your LAN remotely very simply.
You can telnet to your lan with the ip address. If both(your lan & school)are connected to internet and contain global ip address you use the command telnet it will ask the passwd and connects you to your home server

*eyes light up* grin!!

alright!!

I've only seen telnet a couple of times so far, I'm sure I can figure it out ..however, If you happen to respond and give a few pointers (no matter how basic) I'd sure appreciate it very much..I'm no guru , nor a complete idiot..(most of the time hehe) however, I've been known to over-look the obvious at times and truely confuse things from that point...
..anyhow, I'm off to make sure that I have telnet installed on my pc, or both pc's and then carry on from that point...

i've only seen Telnet never used it ..so (lol@self) any tips are greatly appreciated..

Thanks in advance, and am aspiring to be of service to this site as well as ya'll have to me some day..

Thomas

Mr.Thomas

telnet is default utility of any operating system(Windows,Solaris,Linux). So there is no
question of installing in pc.This u can do it from command prompt in windows,# in unix.It is a fundamental thing of networking u can refer it any book or man pages.
telnet
