hello,

When I start up my pc I see the following sentences:

rem - by Windows 98 Network for Netware Upgrade - C:\Windows\lsl.com

rem - by Windows 98 Network for Netware Upgrade - C:\Windows\odihlp.exe

rem - by Windows 98 Network - C:\Windows\net start

rem - by Windows 98 Network - C:\Windows\net start

Does somebody know what this means? And what I should do about it?

With my Network Card I also have a problem:
When I try to install the driver for it, it says: error 1F6. I tried to look it up on the Internet what kind of fault this was, but I did not found anything about it.Can somebody please help me?

1F6 I don't know.

The rem statements are from your autoexec.bat file. You can open this file to view the contents with wordpad. Autoexec.bat is located in your root directory (C:)

You can also edit it from the MS-Dos prompt.
C:\>edit autoexec.bat

the REM statements tells DOS to ignore the command. ECHO tells DOS to output the line or lines to the screen. which is why you are seeing them.

ECHO(shows the the lines until its turned off)
lines
lines
lines
ECHO OFF(turns it off)

Netware is Novell's network OS. The commands you are seeing are to load some programs for windows to be able to use Netware. They may have been REMed because your computer is no longer on a Netware based network.

If you get Error Code 1F6 during the installation of the driver, completely unload the driver from a previously installed NIC. Go to c:\windows\inf and c:\windows\inf\other, then find all the files that is associated with your previous card. After you get to the desktop, restart you computer, and proceed by manually setting up the new NIC instead of using Plug-and-Play settings and drivers.
